What Is the Government’s ECO4 Scheme?

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a UK Government initiative designed to lower carbon emissions and combat fuel poverty. It requires energy providers to fund home energy improvements for those who might struggle to afford them. That’s excellent news for homeowners and tenants who meet the eligibility criteria!

We deliver energy-saving upgrades under two funding streams – ECO4 and ECO Flex.

Are You Eligible?

Property Requirements

ECO4 is open to homes with an energy performance rating of D to G. For social housing and privately rented properties, only those in bands E to G are eligible.

Financial Criteria

Households receiving means-tested benefits automatically qualify. However, even if you’re not receiving benefits, you could still be eligible through ECO Flex if your local council offers the scheme. You may qualify if your total household income is below £31,000 before tax, or if someone in your home lives with a chronic health condition, such as a cardiovascular issue, respiratory illness, reduced mobility, or a weakened immune system. Unsure if your Local Authority participates in ECO Flex? Get in touch – we’re happy to advise.

Qualifying Benefits

As part of the qualifying criteria for the ECO4 scheme, eligibility is contingent upon receipt of specific government benefits. Below is a comprehensive list of benefits that meet the criteria for participation in the ECO4 Scheme:

  • Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance
